Wolf Appreciation Week
Wolf Appreciation Week
Wolf Appreciation Week is traditionally the 3rd week of October

Pella Wildlife Company takes this opportunity to focus our educational programs on the wolf and the news and status of this species in the US and Iowa. Wolf Appreciation Week for us tends to turn into wolf appreciation month.
We are able to visit scouting groups, elementary, high schools, FFA Groups and civic organizations.
We also spend a day doing our wolf seminar "Unbroken". This program is open to the public and is free to attend.

This will also be the page where we will post information and images of our wolf ambassadors and the status
of the return of the wolf to Iowa

Our wolf pups were donated by Bear Country USA a litter of 2, brother and sister.
Visit them when you are in South Dakota and on the web at www.bearcountryusa.com

Where is the first place you take your new wildlife ambassadors, especially when they are
wolves? The set of Dances with Wolves. We visited the set of Ft. Hayes before heading back to Iowa.

The first public appearance for the wolf pups was the 40th Anniversary Celebration of Lake Red Rock. The pups
were part of a program "The Wild Dogs of Iowa". Here board member and wildlife photgrapher Ron Huelse meets our newest wildlife ambassador.

Named Lola and Bridger the pups begin their socialization.

The current status of wolves in Iowa is extirpated. However, with wolves increasing in Minnesota and Wisconsin wolves are expected to return to the state. Iowa is in the wolf recovery zone for the western great lakes wolf recovery project. At this time there is a pack of wolves less than 50 miles from the northeast corner of Iowa in Wisconsin. How will Iowans react to their return. Let us know through our contact us page.
